YESCO announces it has completely retrofitted the colossal scoreboard at New Mexico State University’s Aggie Memorial Stadium with a new display made by Watchfire. Taking more than 1,600 man-hours of labor to complete, the scoreboard renovation was finished on Saturday, July 27, just ahead of New Mexico State University’s first football game of the season which occurred on Saturday, Aug. 31 against Southeast Missouri State University.

The brand-new 31-foot-tall by 60-foot-wide brilliant LED display created by Watchfire includes a 10-millimeter pixel pitch. YESCO also fabricated a three-inch-wide steel frame to match the sign’s existing mounting brackets and manufactured aluminum end cladding, three mesh frames and faces at the top front of the display and one mesh frame system for the entire back of the display.

In addition to retrofitting the new signage, YESCO also removed and disposed of the previous A/C units and duct work, flex faces, existing sign cabinets, existing digital displays and existing sound speakers.

FUN FACTS:

  • Since 1978, Aggie Memorial Stadium has been the home of New Mexico State football.
  • With a capacity for 28,853 fans, the new video scoreboard can be viewed by all guests inside the stadium.
  • The Watchfire videoboard can display more than 1.2 quintillion colors.

“Our team dedicated countless hours to ensure every detail of the new scoreboard installation was meticulously executed, enhancing the game-day experience for New Mexico State University fans,” said Jeff Young, executive vice president, YESCO. “We were elated to watch the cutting-edge LED display light up the field for the first home game of the season.”

“New Mexico State University has a storied history of excellence both on and off the field,” said Kyle Dines, Watchfire Vice President of Sports. “Watchfire is proud to be part of this legacy. After all, this video scoreboard is a bright, colorful milestone, sparking fan experiences and setting the stage for more unforgettable moments at Aggie Memorial Stadium.”

YESCO Fabricates, Installs New Signage at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah

YESCO recently completed the fabrication and installation of four new pylon signs and 33 light pillars on the main campus of Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.

The pylon signs bookend north and south entrances to campus along Harrison Boulevard. The light pillars line Harrison Boulevard between the two entrances.

All told, the project comprised more than 4,000 man-hours over a 28-week-long period and included the addition of 3,800 white LEDs.

Made from aluminum and steel, each of the pylons features white LED light with purple vinyl overlay that borders a giant Gothic-style “W.” Additional white LED light borders the top of each pylon, encased in vinyl that makes it appear purple at night. The light pillars have a white LED section that lights up purple at night as well, and they have a separate white LED section that illuminates the letters WSU.

The fabrication and installation of the pylon signs and pillars also followed the original design produced by VCBO, the Salt Lake City-and St. George-based architecture firm.

“This project will welcome students, families and visitors to Weber State University with subtle-yet-beautiful signage depicting school colors and the inimitable school font,” said Matt Wren, senior account executive, YESCO. “In doing so, we have provided another client with an opportunity to enhance the visibility of their brand with distinctive visual flair.”
