FAQ - What are the different types of video walls?

There are two different types of video walls: LED and LCD. Video technology has evolved where multiple LED and LCD screens can create seamless visions on large surfaces. A store’s entrance can be transformed into a cohesive image that is often composed of a series of individual LCD or LED screens or panels.

LED video walls are made from many light-emitting diodes (LEDs). LED lighting is brighter than incandescent lighting, so LED video walls consist of high brightness, vibrant colors, and dynamic images that produce super-high-resolution images. Direct-view LED displays can create seamless images due to the ultra-narrow frames around each panel. In-plane switching (IPS) panels help align LED crystals horizontally to improve the color and viewing angles of LED digital video walls.

In contrast, LCD video walls, meaning liquid crystal displays, consist of a grid pattern of many individual tiles or panels, creating a continuous, smooth, superior hi-resolution visual. LCD video walls can produce ultra-high-definition images and clear, legible text for video walls. LCDs work better for up close text in outdoor applications and indoor signage than LED walls that tend to pixelate, making text illegible from close up, but do well in large-scale projects, such as stadiums or other large spaces. Both types of video walls can produce vivid, high-definition images and text as an architectural feature of your business or as backdrops for stage shows, music concerts, virtual events, and more! LCD and LED video walls are ideal for advertising your business in airports, large arenas, and stadiums. Contact YESCO to learn more about how video walls can enhance your brand!
