Signs and Lighting | Off The Grid
Boulder City, Nevada officials wanted to put a shine on the city’s welcome signs and lighting, which depict the Hoover Dam.
Since there was zero chance of running power to the signs, the lighting experts at YESCO found the perfect solution−an updated solar lighting system. “The project far exceeded any expectations we had and YESCO knocked it out of the park,” said Gary Poindexter, Boulder City public works superintendent.
Monuments that involve signs and lighting can be tricky – especially if power has to be run to a remote area or trenched under roadways and parking lots. Solar can be a much more economical and green choice compared to running electrical cables underground to a sign’s location.
Boulder City originally constructed in the early 1930s to house 5,000 Hoover Dam project workers is located 30 miles from the bright lights of Las Vegas.
