2017 Glow Award
Concept to Completion
The Las Vegas Neon Museum held its first Boneyard Ball in February 2017. The ball will be an annual fundraising event. Each year, a notable person will be honored; someone of significance in the success and advancement of the Museum. This year’s recipient was former Las Vegas Mayor Jan Jones Blackhurst, recognized for her important role as an early supporter and organizer of the museum.
YESCO was proud to take part in the Boneyard Ball. At the request of event chairperson Brenda Bogue, we were asked to design and fabricate the GLOW award, a trophy presented to the honoree. We suggested that an imaginary, classic Las Vegas pylon sign would be an appropriate vernacular for the award. Creative Director Mark Oatis contributed the original idea sketches, and Designer Stephen Shortell brought the concept to life with his detailed fabrication drawings. The Las Vegas fabrication crew created a sculptural wonder, at the direction of Dale McCarthy.
YESCO also participated in the Boneyard Ball as an industry sponsor. It was a lively event, as befits the luminous vision of the Neon Museum.
